  • Warm up for Scafell Pike at the end of this month

Thanks to Nigel Pattison for getting many of the team taking on the challenge of Scafell Pike at the end of this month on a warm up 8.5 mile walk this last Sunday.

We walked for 4 hours through beautiful countryside near Stonor Park taking a restful stop at the lovely No Car Café to keep us hydrated.

Still seems there is a bit more preparation needed over the next 3 weeks to be really ready for the full challenge.

We have 11 people signed up for the challenge at the end of the month.  So there are still 3 places available in the  minibus and the lodge.

We’d love more to come along for the walk.   Camping is an option to keep costs to a minimum.  There are one or two camping and also a couple staying in their own separate accommodation?

For those travelling up with us meet at Racquets at 8.30am on Friday 31st May.  We’ll expect to be back on Sunday afternoon / early evening depending on the traffic.

The kit list for the weekend will be :

    • Walking trousers or shorts
    • T shirt liner
    • Long sleeve top
    • Micro fleece
    • Walking socks
    • Waterproof Jacket and Trousers (hopefully not required)
    • Hat Gloves Buff
    • Walking boots or trail shoes depending on preference
    • Winter hat and gloves (it can get down to zero on the tops even in June)
    • 2 to 3 litre camelbak (there are NO shops in the mountains)
    • Enough food and drink for the day…
