  • Mary tones and strengthens playing squash

Mary’s husband has played squash for many years but the environment wasn’t quite right for Mary to pick up a racket.  Over the last few months at Racquets more and more ladies have been seeing their friends and workout partners picking up a racket and finding the sport challenging and fun.  So Mary decided to give it a go.

She says ‘I started playing squash 6 weeks ago, absolutely loving playing games and the group coaching sessions.  I have noticed a big difference in tone and my core, arms and legs as well as losing weight and improving my fitness.  It is a great buzz and Racquets is a really friendly club to be part of.’

Mary is playing 3 or 4 times a week both with other ladies and with her husband while her kids are playing in the creche.

We’d like to see many more ladies taking up this sport – as it’s indoors – so clean and dry – you can’t think about what’s for dinner while the ball is flying around so your brain gets a rest from the day to day humdrum of family life.  As you get used to the game you find yourself running more and more and running faster and faster.  Our ladies all agree that it is a great cardio workout.

If you’d like to give the game a go – why not join us on 12th March 2017 from 11am to 3pm at Racquets for our first Ladies Squash Festival.  We’ll be teaching new players how to hit the ball, how to play the game, the rules, the tactics and how to play safely.  Alternatively, pop in for a chat as we have coaching sessions going on throughout the week.  Contact info@racquets-fitness-centre.com for more information.
