Our Future Health has asked Racquets to let everyone know about the ‘Our Future Health’ programme to build a detailed picture of people’s health to help researchers develop new ways to prevent, detect and treat disease. Here is their press release :
Help create a healthier future for people in Thame
Our Future Health, the UK’s largest health research programme, has opened a mobile clinic in Thame for volunteers to book appointments to take part and help people live healthier lives for longer.
The aim is to recruit 5 million people that truly reflect the UK population to build the most detailed picture ever of people’s health to help researchers develop new ways to prevent, detect and treat disease.
The programme is seeking volunteers in Thame to take part at a mobile clinic located at Chinnor Rugby Club on Kingsey Road. Working in collaboration with the NHS, the programme is sending invitations to people who live near the new clinics. Anyone over the age of 18 can join by signing up online at ourfuturehealth.org.uk, completing an online health questionnaire, and booking a short clinic appointment.
The Thame clinic was announced recently, as one of eight new Our Future Health locations opening in December 2023, bringing the total to 155 clinics overall across the UK. Another mobile clinic is also currently open nearby at Tesco Extra at the Broadfields Retail Park in Aylesbury. Both clinics will remain open until mid January, 2024.
Dr Raghib Ali, Chief Executive and Chief Medical Officer of Our Future Health, said:
“As we open new appointment clinics each month, we want to make it more convenient than ever for people to take part in Our Future Health. It’s great to see so many people visiting our mobile clinics as part of their regular trip to the supermarket, and taking 20 minutes out of their day to help everyone live longer and healthier lives.”
Volunteers to the initiative give their consent to join the research programme and provide secure access to their health records and complete a questionnaire. Then they book an appointment at a clinic to have a blood sample taken, plus some physical measurements. Participants will also be offered personalised information about their own health, including their blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
As the programme continues to roll out across the country, details of new clinics will be updated here.
