Friday Night Racketball Doubles October 2017
A tremendous competition on Friday 6th October with some very tight scoring and hopefully enjoyed by all and judging by the high level of entry for the next event already me thinks it is a fair statement.
Congratulations to Mike Holifield and Beth John for getting the maximum 74 points on the night which means Holi now heads the league table by 2 points with 7 players in second spot with 72. In fact it took a toss of a Starburst Chocolate [other brands of chocolate are available, but not at that moment] to decide who should play the ‘A’ Final but both teams reported injury so the ‘B’ Final became the ‘A’ final contested between our Tin Man [Nigel Hillier] and Ben Hedger against Woody Woodwards and Barnaby Smith. This went to 3 games with Woody and Barnaby coming through and taking the prestigious prize of a couple of bottles of beer. We don’t know how long this will last as Simon seems to have a job lot of Rose Wine to shift.
It was great to have our lovely ladies playing last night, but they were not very lady like, hitting the ball very crisply and being all over the court. However very enjoyable games which fully justified me bringing my ‘Pinkies’ for a run out.
Our next competition is on Friday 10th November and already there are only 4 places left, so please mail me to ensure you will not be disappointed as there is a strict 24 player limit. Greenie entered but was firmly told by Mrs Green he had his priorities wrong on the basis he was being graciously allowed to go to Vietnam to play Golf the following week so was grounded.
As most of you still do not know the Rules of this Competition – here is some essential details:
- To qualify to win the league you need to play a minimum of 3 events, therefore next time we will get a better idea of the front runners.
- The draw is done by Simon and myself to balance as far as possible the games, and it looks like it works.
- You will play with a different partner each time so you will not play with the same person twice, Chloe is pleased with this.
