Racquets Fitness Centre, a club in the centre of Thame, has had its most successful camp since the recession with over 20 attendees! A great indicator for Squash that the sport is very much alive and attracting a new demographic the young & mature, both male and female.
Squash for many years has been stigmatized as the old man’s game, however this view is being debunked by players such as Alex Noakes a Racquets member in his teens now holding ninth position in the World (under 19’s). The sport has changed – it is fast paced highly energetic and young! Many who try the game leave breathless but wanting more – it’s a great fat burner and muscle toning event that will put years on your life.
It’s not just Alex Noakes that has been a junior improver and camp attendee that has gone on to bigger and better things. Will John now in the adults division is ranked 274 in the world! Aisling Guerzoni is now ranked 44 in the under 19’s girls in the Uk, all of these guys have been committed and trained hard over the years to get to the level they are today however one aspect that is the common denominator between them is they were all trained and coached at Racquets fitness centre and attended The School Holiday squash camps. So if you’re interested in the game or possibly intrigued pop down to Racquets fitness centre and find out more.
Camps run every school holiday and coaching occurs on a weekly basis
Racquets offers junior squash coaching on Mondays after school during term time and on Saturday mornings throughout the year. All coaches are qualified and many have years of experience playing at a high level – including world rankings, county champions, county team players.
