Closure Notice for Racquets
Dear Valued Member,
We’re excited to share some important news about the future of Racquets Fitness Centre.
After careful consideration over the past year, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve reached an agreement to pass the torch to Par 72, a golf simulator coaching and recreational centre, on 6th October 2025. The new owners will bring fresh investment and new opportunities to our beloved community space.
A Bright Future Ahead Par 72 shares our commitment to serving the local community and will be creating an enhanced facility featuring popular golf simulator activities, professional coaching programmes, a high-quality fitness suite, and a vibrant community hub. The new owners expect the refurbishment of the building to take 9-12 months to complete.
After 50 wonderful years, we’re thrilled that this space will continue to bring people together for the next 50 years and beyond.
Celebrating Our Journey Together Our final day open will be 5th October, and we’d love to celebrate with you at a farewell party in the bar 2pm – 8pm Sunday 5th October. It will be a wonderful opportunity to toast the memories we’ve shared.
Continuing Your Fitness Journey We’re committed to ensuring your fitness routine continues seamlessly. Our fantastic instructors are already working on an exciting new timetable of classes at various venues throughout Thame, and we’ll share these details with you soon. Additionally, Kat and Simon are delighted to continue offering the holiday programmes you love – they already have a date set for March!
We’re also working hard to arrange training options during the transition period and hope you’ll consider joining the new facility when it reopens with enhanced amenities.
You will be aware that the new facility will not include courts and we are sad about this. Ladies and mens teams will be run out of Wheatley Leisure Centre, and Simon has arranged membership deals with local clubs for anyone looking to play elsewhere. Please speak to Simon about these.
Your Membership – Made Simple We want to make this transition as smooth as possible for you:
- Monthly Direct Debit Members: We’ll automatically adjust your final payment to end on 5th October – no action needed from you
- Standing Order Members: Please adjust your standing order to end on 5th October
- Annual Members: You have two great options for your remaining membership time:
- The new owners have agreed to honour the remaining duration of your membership by extending it through the refurbishment closure, ensuring it resumes once the club reopens.

- We will provide you with a full refund for the unused portion after 5th October – the refund to be made by the end of October 2025.
Please email us at accounts@racquets-fitness-centre.com with your preference before 5th October with your membership number, full name and bank details. Multiple memberships can be included in one email for your convenience. Anyone not informing us of their preference will be assumed to be opting for the extension.
